I flew on Jet Blue with my “emotional support animal”.

I recently had to travel from New York to California because my 85 year old father was in poor health, I thought it may be my last chance to see him before he died.  I was concerned about what to do with my dog, she is a 2 year old Labradoodle named Layla. I figured I would have to crate her, I called Jet Blue to make arrangements, when I inquired about having the dog, the representative asked me if I needed her with me on the plane as an “emotional support animal”.  I said “Yes, of course.” I was told I would be able to travel with her in the cabin as long as my therapist provided me with a letter stating I needed my dog to fly with me on the body of the plane for emotional support. Check in was fine, although, navigating through JFK with a 50 pound dog and a carry on bag with bad wheels was not that easy.

Just before we got to the gate, Layla decided to have a crap, she did it in stages.  I was mortified, people around us were either laughing or irritated.  One woman pointed out to me that during the pick up process I missed a spot.

We finally got on the plane, the flight attendants were very accomodating, she got a  little nervous during take off and landing, but for the 5 hour flight she layed by my feet. It really felt so nice to have her with me.

I will now always be a loyal Jet Blue “jetter”.
