Mysteries of the site, waiting to be solved. A tongue in cheek approach to my experiences on Triond.

Having been writing on Triond, sporadically, it must be admitted, for a little over two months, I am very happy with the earnings.   Oh  yes, I know they are only cents right now, but they do build up.  After 34 articles though, I am delving into the depths of a mystery.   You see, hardly anyone likes anything I have written.  I do have my one, loyal fan,  Reilley – thank you sir – but what is going on here?

I took a closer look at the figures, even though numbers more statistical than 5 X 2 strike fear and terror into my soul.  Most interesting facts were revealed, which only caused the mystery of no liking to deepen.   For example, 903 people have viewed my “Utilitarianism and Business Ethics: The Ford Pinto Case” but only around two actually like it, and one of them  is me!  “Oops,” I say to myself, “What is wrong with it?”  All feedback gratefully accepted.  A recent recipe “Wicked Chocolate Orange Cake” has had 12 views and no likes, and what’s not to like with that cake?  At the risk of becoming boring with numerical data, ah, what the hell, I’ll  live dangerously, 172 have viewed “Psychological and Ethical Egoism” and possibly two liked it.  “Brick wall, head banging against,” are the words that come to mind as I seem to be scribbling into a void.

Yesterday, a further mystery confounded me.   That great graph invention showing visit trends is most impressive, though I only reached 54, despite 903 on that article mentioned earlier.  Doh!  I read the information and wanted to add a comment to the others already there.  Damned if I could find a way to actually do it,  even though I pride myself on having mastered the art of placing a link on  my blog “Collecting Thoughts” back to my Triond articles.  With my computer illiteracy, I expect I would need 2-3 hours to find a way to comment on Triond, and life is way too short.  Any and all advice would be most welcome.

Finally, I am harking back  to that sad  message on  my Dashboard.  You know the one that gets me humming James Taylor’s great song, “You’ve Got a Friend?”   It makes me feel so lonely and ignorant when the words appear “No recent friends activity in news feed.”

These mysteries do not, however, prevent me from wanting to write on Triond.  I think the tools, the news items, the freedom to write just about anything, and the editing process are all great recommendations for the site.  So maybe I will set aside a day and fiddle and muddle my way to the heart of the mysteries.  Or maybe I had better just write.  What do you think?
