He always said when he passed away that he would make us laugh, and he did.

Your passing was hard on all of us but even in death you managed to make the thoughts of planning your funeral funny.

Just as you had always told us many times when you were alive: ”You said that you would be sure that we remembered your funeral”, you also said that  you would make us laugh some how before the funeral or during it.

Yes sir-re you did just that!

I am sure you won’t mind me telling these nice readers how you made us laugh. So here goes!
My Uncle passed away about ten years ago, he was the love of my life. I hated my father so in my eyes uncle was more like a father to me than my real father ever was. Uncle pretty much raised me, he was always there when I need him. I remember often wondering after his passing why it couldn’t have been my real father that had died and not the uncle that I loved so much.
Lets get on with the story!

My uncle was in his seventies when he passed away and as often as we had ask him about life insurance he refused to have it. He believed that by putting life insurance on himself that he “might end up dieing sooner” he always said that the good lord wasn’t getting him till he was ready. So he had no insurance!

Even ten years ago funerals could be very costly so when he passed away at home he was taken to one of our local funeral parlors. When we arrived to make his arrangements we were told that we needed the full amount of the funeral up front, we didn’t have over six thousand dollars to hand right over so we became frantic .

Uncle was sitting in this funeral parlor and the home was refusing to make any arrangements till the bill was paid in full. We did some crying that day let me tell you!

Then we settled down, called another local funeral home and before we could even get to that home to make any arrangements at all they had already went and picked uncle up and taken him to their home.

So yes uncle did make us laugh just as he said he would! All we could picture is uncle bouncing along on rough back roads from one funeral home to another.

Uncle Vic is greatly missed but we still always laugh at his last wishes and his day of bouncing around. We joke that this was his last wish, he wanted to see the country side one last time (smile)and of course make us laugh.

I’m sure your uncle was smiling down on all of you! A cute story about a sensitive subject.
