Using surveys to get social information.
I did the survey assignment and the results were not quite as I thought they might have turned out.
There is more writing done on jobs where I didn’t expect it was done. I didn’t quite specify anything about technical writing, which is my career choice, but I constructed my survey around writing in the workplace and how much it is used in the workplace. I did some of my own studying into my own selected career field and I have decided to focus my education around technical writing. I really enjoy writing and would love to be a freelance writer. I have joined a few companies, on-line, that allow me to write short stories, blogs, and opinions. I have made a little money doing this type of writing and I initially decided to take on this type of job to improve my writing skills and make money at the same time.
I included questions about what types of writing an individual would do if they were to go back to school in the survey. The survey gave me a lot of insights on how much (a very small amount of people from survey) society really knows about writing. I put a lot of time into deciding how to prepare the survey and putting together my graph to sum the survey up a bit. I believe it is very important to be educated on as many different types of writing as possible. I am still in the process of learning the many different types of writing formats. I have found that everyone you write for wants something different. The hardest part in writing to me is when someone wants a story to be in certain length, (500-1000 words) I find it hard to keep from rambling on about the same thing, but I find that the more I learn about writing the easier it seems to get. I have learned to do presentations, diagrams and charts, surveys, and writing so far. I understand that this is only the beginning of this journey in writing and I am looking forward to every step in the process.
