I’ve just realized how much time I spend on my laptop.

Every day I use my laptop, I never skip a beat. I write, read, work, and if you add in some leisurely activities you’ve already got a few hours wasted right there. But, until now, I never really realized how much time I actually spend on my computer. So why have I suddenly seen the light? My power cord broke. I couldn’t use my laptop, so I just didn’t go online much in fear of my laptops battery failing. I had so much more time!

I did so much more, and I really enjoyed it and felt like I’d actually done something that day. I made myself proper meals, I changed my makeup routine, I went shopping, I fixed my golf bag and went golfing, I went to my boyfriends hockey game and met his team and we all went out to dinner. All and all, I had a great day.

Now, I love writing, but working on my Triond account takes up a lot of my time. Commenting and reading on articles, I really love it. I feel like I’m making myself part of a community, and I’m learning so much. But I have other things to do; I can’t spend my whole life online. So what am I supposed to do? I guess the key is to find a balance.

I’ve always hated limits. Limiting my time on my laptop is not fun, because sometimes I’ll want to spend more time online some days than others. Besides, I find that if I do set limits for myself I’ll be more likely to completely ignore them than actually let them control my life. What’s a girl to do? Plan things. That’s right, I’m going to force myself to step outside and do something. Like what you may ask? Well, that I don’t really know. (I’m not normally one to plan ahead.) If you do happen to have some wonderful ideas then please, feel free to comment and give some suggestions. :)

How much time do you guys spend online?

Too much, but I have the time. Budgeting, that’s your cure…a little of this, a little of that and everything will get done.

Since my job is related to my lap top and besides my job I do a lot of things for that laptop is need, so I normally spend a whole lot of time with my laptop. On an average 12 hours… and sometimes even more.

I’m a professional blogger. I spend hours on Triond. It’s taken me years to get in a position to do this all day and I love. So, I have no suggestions to offer.

    Good luck though.

Regular work to live by has to be done. As long as I’ve done what I’m expected to do, I spend my time in front of the computer. It’s both my extra work and leisure time. I invite you to see my website to see what I’ve done in those free hours: http://palawaniana.webnode.com//

I usually spend about 5-8 hours in front of my computer. But on rare occasion, I could spend up to 14 hours just to browse internet, play Runescape or chatting; usually it happens when I’m really bored.

I agree with you that limiting time is sucked but making a schedule to plan everything would be nice. I have no school or anything that bound me into daily routine so making a schedule for myself to control everything is an urgent need which I’ve been doing all this time.

It can sometimes really refreshing when I don’t spend any single second in front of my computer all day. But that’s usually happen on holiday when my friends or family have times to spend all day outside daily routine. Since I’m studying mostly in front of the computer, I cannot avoid using it in a normal day.

    Nice article!

This is an awesome article Aleena. I agree with you. I am somewhat of an addict and most of the day and night on my laptop. I love to read and comment other people’s work, but unfortunately I don’t have the time anymore as I used to. Good to hear that you went to your b/f hockey game and dinner after. But don’t feel like you’ve wasted your time completely. You have also contributed articles to Triond.

Very well done. I bet most people do not even realize now much time they spend on line. It is a bit insane. Most of my time on line is while I am at work and on the weekends. I hardly ever go on at home during the week. I actually try not to.
