A musing on the importance of making memories that last long after we are gone.
We can build great monuments and write great sonnets. We can leave behind great donations we have given and say that we were true philanthropists.
But what truly matters when we are gone? Do all of the great works we do in life matter if we cannot say our family will remember that we loved them? That they had no call to doubt our love? Did we keep our word when given? Did we truly put them first when it mattered the most to them?
Did we stop to tell them I love you just because they needed to hear it? Did we protect and honor them as they truly deserve? Did we seek to understand them, even when we didn’t agree? Did we?
How then, will we be remembered when we are gone from this life and all that is left behind are the memories that we were responsible for creating?
