What do you consider a true friend?

To me a true friend is someone who knows you, both good and bad. Tells you like it is, takes you as you are. Someone who you can talk to when you need them, and who listens. Someone you can tell anything to and not be judged. Someone who can make you laugh, make you cry, and loves you unconditionally.

I know this is just a stupid social website. However, I have found many a good friend on here. One I now consider my best friend, Love ya Chris, you are truly one of a kind, and nothing or nobody will change that . I met my best friend in real life on a website (NiteAngel) and we are still best friends 6 years later..she was there the day I delivered my daughter, and in my eyes her godmother. I’ve opened my heart to alot of people, some have taken the time to actually know the real person behind the screen, some have claimed to be a friend when clearly they have no concept on what that word even means, and some just bullshit their way around this site simply for rates. Being a friend is two sided, you have to talk…and don’t say the L word unless you truly mean it. It hurts otherwise…truly it does. I put myself out there, maybe thats stupid sometimes because I only get disappointed in the end, but thats how I am. I LOVE my true friends.. (h)

I am one of those people who will be there when you need them, give you the shirt off my back if you need it, talk with you, cry with you and be by your side in both good and bad times. Everyone needs someone to talk to, laugh with..cry with sometimes.

This is a very beautiful poem. I totally agree with you. A true friend is someone who will be there for you through good and bad times. Yes, the person will tell you like it is whether you want to hear it or not. A true friend is someone who will accept you for who you are without passing judgment. It\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\’s a very sad world and unfortunately you have to be very careful who you open your heart to because most people don\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\’t have your best intentions at heart. A true friend won\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\’t pass judgment and is never too busy to hear what you have to say. Too many shady people in this world and only a few are true friends. I am a true friend.

I always say a true friend is someone who knows everything about you, but loves you anyway. This is a great write and very true. “Love” and “friend” are thrown around much too casually these days. There are many who use the words and yet have no concept of their meaning.

You have what it takes to be a true friend. I have one person I consider a true friend now, but he is extremely valuable and worth keeping. For me a friend has to know me well as you point out and know how to overlook the bad and bring out the best in me. I don’t mean that the bad is ignored if it needs to be brought up, but if it is simply a difference of opinion and not of crucial significance it should be overlooked. When it becomes something the person is doing that is dangerous to themselves or others, of course it needs to be gently pointed out in love. Most of us know when we are at fault and do not need someone to bash us over the head about it, but if we are playing games with ourselves, a true friend will tell us.
