Maybe pharmacy is not the right career choice for me.
I wake up dreading another restless and boring day at work. My commute is usually 45 minutes with all the traffic. I always tend to make it to work a few minutes late. That’s probably a sign I don’t like my job. I work in a mail order pharmacy processing prescriptions through data entry. I sit in a small opened cubicle which makes hard it not to be caught sleeping. The work is very demanding.
Employees there are expected to meet quotas every day. We are expected to be productive because that is what the company thrives on so every bit of our time is monitored. The work also involves having to call patients’. Usually, we call patients’ to inform them when the cost of their medication has gone up or is not covered. And of course, I’m the one left in the middle of the insurance company and my company having to explain to the patient the high cost of their medication. On top of this we have meaningless weekly meetings that continuously reiterate what we’ve already talked about weeks before.
I don’t know. Maybe pharmacy is not for me. Maybe the type of work structure is not for me. I took an online career test and found that Accounting is the most suitable career for me so that’s what I’m currently pursuing. I hope it works out.
