My motivation to go back to college and get my degree.

I would not say that I’m returning to college as much as I am  finally finishing.  I decided to take a couple years off because of the decision to have a baby. So now my daughter is old enough that she doesn’t need constant care and I’m ready to finish my degree.

While I do say that I took a break from my educational career  because of my daughter she is the biggest part of my desire to finish my degree.  I would like to have a degree so I could find a job more easily in case something were to happen to my husband.  I also would like to entertain the possibility of getting a job when she starts school thus giving me a lot more free time.  Also I am thinking about when she graduates high school it will be easier to convince her of the need to get a college education if I have one too. Besides my desire to graduate for myself and my daughter there is the issue of my husbands education.  He is currently finishing up a certificate at Lake Land College and has not expressed a desire to pursue his education any further.  I am hoping that with my degree that many new doors of opportunity will open up and that it will show him the importance of a continued education.

In review, I’ve decided to finally finish my degree so I can be more prepared and armed to deal with whatever the future may bring.  My daughter was my excuse to take a break from my education and now she is the fuel that I will use to propel myself through with more determination and resolve than ever before. Lastly I’m praying that my husband is jealous enough of my new found opportunities that he will also decide to seek a degree in whatever field will make him happy.
