At first it was not the joy, it was something though I felt I needed to explore, and I am glad I did!

Why I Write
To be able to dream, the impossible dream. To go and do anything, that is what I see when I see this photo!

Hello to all my readers, old friends and new alike! Family and friends have asked me recently why I chose to start writing, and I stated because I like it, but recently on one of my long car rides I really thought about this question, especially since I was horrible in Language Arts, or English class and my grammar was worse. Let me think, “Why did I chose to start writing”?

Well it sounded so relaxing when I heard the people around me who enjoy writing, one being my son, the other my niece; so I thought I would try. I found out I was not very good at long stories, even though science fiction and fantasy are books I enjoy reading; I just don’t have the knack for it, YET!

I enjoy the few moments of inspiration that come to me to write a poem, whether it is watching my children muddle through life, my parents as they become the elders of the family now, or just sitting watching nature in all it splendor, but I am not by any means a poet, YET!

I did realize that I enjoy taking basic information, regarding health issues, homeopathic remedies, and just your everyday life issues; cut them into small understandable articles. Articles that can be understood by everyone alike, I enjoy finding out about little things that can make a huge difference in ones life. How herbs, spices and vitamins can improve you quality of life, while giving me more insight on what I truly enjoy and hope to one day begin the journey down the road to being a certified homeopathic healer.

I have certification as a Doula, but many of these things that can help steer us away from medications and other none essential drugs are not recognized by the medical field, pharmaceutical manufacturers and most importantly the insurance companies.

For now I suggest, I read, I write and let the world know that long before many of these medications that we take daily where invented there were ways to combat some of the diseases. Let me explain: years ago they had the answers for many ailments, but not the test to pre-diagnose the illness. Now if we know there is a problem on the horizon, we have the information to possibly stop the progression in its steps.

So this I realized is my I chose to write, to let others know that there are alternatives, as well as to “spell it out” in words we can all understand.

Thanks to all my readers who have supported and commented on my writing; it was a great welcome to a world I never knew existed; and just maybe I one day I will become a fantasy writer or a poet!

We all have reasons we wanted to write. I have wanted to write since I was a teenage. I thought I had so many stories in my mind that I just had to get out. But my family was not supportive of a creative career and talked me into nursing. Then there was a family to raise and a husband with a Naval career. My dreams went to the back burner. So at 50 years old I am trying to live my dream and even got a degree in English along the way and have an unpublished children’s book and an agent. Now I would like to how more about a Doula. Why don\’t you write an article about that subject?

A enjoyable look into why you write. I have tried many forms of writing but always get pulled back to poetry. We all find our niches eventually.

It was so nice to read why you write.

For me it was a total mind blowing surprise , I never in all my years {now being on the more mature side of life} thought I would be on a site having my written word publish.
I have a terrible time reading and writing, so turned to other things to achieve in.
I have only been here a couple of months, I have totally done a complete turn around, one just cant stop me from reading or writing, and man`o`man the things I come up with , like where on earth did they come from..
I have always had a great since of humour along with an imagination like no other…
BUT a writer no never, didn’t even once enter my mind.
Then one day I arrived here and haven’t left, have a great time getting in touch with WORD :) ..
I to have learnt so much here, as I sit here writing this I am shaking my head, still not believing what I am doing WOW!!!
    A WOW for you Elisabeth.

I enjoyed reading why your write. It is weird that I never really thought much about writing when I was still in high school. I just decided to start writing about my favorite soap opera for another site and then I liked it more and more. Anyway, I think that you will become a poet soon.

I enjoyed reading about your reasons for writing, it is different to my own experience. I can’t stop myself from writing. When I write I am just me, in the real world I am never just me, I am a colleague, a daughter, a wife, a mother, the list goes on and on.

For whatever reasons you write, I enjoy your diverse material and ideas. And, go write that long story and book when you’re ready!
