“26th of March. It’s my birthday today. I’ve already opened my family’s presents and soon I’ll go around to my best friends house to celebrate with her because it was her birthday too. Well, that was  my plan for today. I am standing in Gerita Park, a small local park with nothing more than a swing set, a see-saw and a park bench. My older sister, Heather, is laying down in the long uncut grass exhausted from chasing my younger brother Nate around. Heather is considered to “more beautiful one” out of us, but i can see why. When she lies down her magnificent golden hair spreads out like a soft pillow under her head. With her eyes closed she looks so peaceful like nothing can disturb her. A small chill sets in around us and I decided it’s time to go back.” I think it’s time we head back now,” I say with a gentle yawn afterwards. Nate gives a few squeals in objection, but I know he’ll catch a cold out here. “I think Nate wants to stay. You can go if you like,” said Heather without opening her eyes. Our house is just two streets away, so i start walking. When I get to the turn that leads to our street, I see that eerie, deep green van go past again. That van belongs to Mr Tumnik, an old man who moved to our neighbour one or two years ago. I see his van stop slowly and he winds down his window. “Ah I forgot to come round this morning and wish you a happy birthday. I se you’re wearing some of your birthday presents,” he said pointing to my new jeans and top, ” and that’s a lovely clip in your hair,” he said, referring to my real lily clipped in my hair. I just smiled and started to walk again. ” Wait, wait, It’s really starting to chill out here, do you want a ride home?” It was really chilly and my feet were hurting from al that running after Nate at the park. “Um…sure…i guess,” I said slowly walking to the van. I open the door and climb inside. My name is Lily Hemsman, and i just made the biggest mistake of my life…

What the story is about

A girl named Lily Hemsman is abducted by local old man, William Tumnik on her 13th birthday. He has stalked her ever since he came to the neighbourhood and he has now got her in his van and is taking her to his home and rapes her, leaving her traumatized and is forced to have his baby. Then she and her baby are thrown into his underground trench where she meets Anthony Jackal, a boy who was abducted from another neighbour hood close to where they are now. He was abducted 4 years ago when he was 9, so he is now 13 too. He was also raped by Mr Tumnik. The two become close and help each other to regain confidence and overcome this traumatic experience. A there is a surprise ending so i wont tell you much more but just one thing, either Mr Tumnik, Lily, Anthony or Veronica (Lily’s baby) will die…
