A personal view of the season.

I will decorate my Norfolk Pine, that lives in a pot the year-round.  During the summer, it inhabits a south-western corner of flower bed; during the winter, a space near the window in the study.  When I purchased it, about 5 years ago, it was eight inches tall.  Now, three feet tall, it is my answer to the dilemma of cutting a tree or assembling and standing up an artificial tree.  Its green branches remind me that the cycles of the universe are unending; when one thing ceases to be, another takes its place.

A circle is round; it has no end.  Happy holidays, however you may celebrate them, to all my Triond and other friends.  May the coming New Year bring you blessings of health and happiness.

Enjoyable essay. I envy those with families. Being an only child I have outlived family but have been blessed with many friends. We did our holiday business on Thanksgiving this year as my friends do have family. On Christmas Day I plan to weedeat around the fruit trees and worm the goats and trim their hooves. They’ll hate me for the former and appreciate the latter. Merry/Happy, everyone.

I love this time of the year because of the lengthening of the days.. I always find it odd that the days get longer just as the temps get colder – it just doesnt seem right.

Daisy, our family is scattered but most are close. I have sisters and a bro and extended family that we had dinner with a week ago. We rented a cabin on the lake this year. Most years we do it at my sisters church but this year the church was occupied. Then Xmas day we had dinner at my son’s house. Two grandsons were missing. One in afghanistan and one in Arizona. It was a nice quiet Xmas.
