I have several sexy flash fiction stories published. This is how I did it.

There is a large audience on the Internet for sexy short stories.  I’ve published several on Triond.  And even though I haven’t published an erotic story on Triond in several weeks, one of the stories is usually in the top five of my page views.  Sex content on the Internet is always a winner.

Triond does not publish porn.  So, the stories are not pornographic; but they are realistic.  Once published, I was sure the stories would continue to get hits from the search engines if the stories had provocative titles; but I didn’t want Triond to reject the stories because of the titles.  So, I set up a few simple parameters to guide me in the writing of the stories.

The stories would be realistic but not explicit.  The stories would really be about relationships.  There would be no street or vulgar language used for any act or body part.  And finally, absolutely no profanity.  If you want to see how the stories turned out just check out my Profile by clicking on my name at the top of the page.

You always make topics real to people not fake. Well done!

Nicely done. oh…and very well-written shamless plug. (It’s ok–I write one of those every now and then, myself.)

Guy you always give sound advice to which I am very grateful. I really need to do more of these short topics myself. Need to get more hits. (and yes I have read your tips on that!!) Will catch up on your stories later.

Mrs. Heart, to me writing is very much a craft and like any craft it has to be studied and worked at to get good at. There is no mystery. There is only common sense.

Hi, Daisy: Self-promotion is a writer’s best friend.

lillyrose, the erotic stories always get lots of hits but fiction pays less money.

Very good advice. This is a topic that many don’t know how to approach well. Good ideas.

I know how sex interests minds of surfers, but i’m 13 so i’m not interested in thoes kind of stuff.

I finally learned how to write like that and do on occasion when the mood strikes me.Its all about how you write it i found out where Triond will accept it.Great article.

    Well done!

    Great advice.

  • Guy Hogan on Sep 2, 2009

Marie, why some writers can’t write about sex without using dirty words is beyond me.

  • Guy Hogan on Sep 2, 2009

Buma, you’ve got plenty of time. Don’t worry about it.

  • Guy Hogan on Sep 2, 2009

Anders, thank you. An erotic story should be about life just like any other story.

  • Guy Hogan on Sep 2, 2009

Payge, you’re so right. It’s all in the words you use.

  • Guy Hogan on Sep 2, 2009

Mary, when Triond published my erotica stories I knew my theory of clean sex worked.

Nicely done! I thought of it a while, and then now I have the idea..

    Thanks for sharing

giftarist, good luck. No matter what the subject matter, good writing is still good writing.

Sex will always sell, and why not, it’s the most interesting subject we humans have to talk about.

  • James DeVere on Sep 3, 2009

I reckon you could pull it off – Anais Nin was a master of that style. Good luck mate . j

  • Jane Jane on Sep 4, 2009

thanks but i guess I won’t be writing this kind of stories. I’ve got no idea of writing it.=)

  • Guy Hogan on Sep 4, 2009

Ruby, without sex there is no life. Not just people but every kind of life on the earth. Human sex is a valid subject for any serious writer.

  • Guy Hogan on Sep 4, 2009

James, I’m familiar with her work and her work is proof that writing about sex without making sex dirty can be done. Her work is considered by many to be literature.

  • Guy Hogan on Sep 4, 2009

Jane, it’s not for every writer. There are plenty of other excellent subjects to write about to keep a writer busy for a life time.
