Living with autism.

Today, Xavier is in the second grade, and although he has “splintered” skills, he is doing quite well. He is second in a class of ten children, and excels in art. His teacher brought to my attention that with some art classes, Xavier could easily have a successful career as an artist. As always, I will support him in anything that he wants to do. Xavier is also learning to get along in the world. He is forming relationships with people outside of the family, and even learning those social skills, he is going to need in order to be a well-rounded person. Right now, he is in a special education class that caters to children with Autism, but according to his educational psychiatrist, we may have him in a general education classroom setting by the time he is in middle school.
