When it’s the right time to let go.
Dearest Son,
I remember the first time you walk; you tried to grasp my hand as you take your very first step. Little by little I guided you. I stand right in front of you and tell you to reach my hand. You responded willingly, taking one step at a time. You were afraid, yes, but because I was there within your vision, you move forward without thinking because you trusted the person in front of you. You know that if ever you do fall, I was there to catch you.
As you grow older, you no longer need my hand to walk and go where you like. But still you know that I was still there, very near, walking with you, guiding and supporting you.
And now, as you are going away to fulfill your dream, I will be very far from you. But I am very confident, my son, that you are already strong enough to stand on your own two feet. I have already taught you everything that I know, every skill that you need in order to live independently on this world. I am letting you go as a mother bird is releasing her offsprings when she sees that their wings are already strong enough to fly and explore the horizon on their own.
As you go, my son, remember all the words of wisdom that I taught you. Keep them in your heart and let it guide you. Be good to everyone you meet even those who don’t deserved it. But most of all, don’t forget to pray and thank God, my dear son. For if God is with you, you will be alright no matter what happens.
I bid you now goodbye. Go with my blessings, my son, but remember that no matter how far you may have traveled, don’t you ever forget the way back home.
Love,
Dad
