A short paragraph to know me better.
Dear Readers,
My name is C-ni (my nickname) and I am Indonesian. I have been in the United States for more than two years. I like to live in Riverside city because it has different environment and atmosphere from my hometown, Jakarta. It is a quiet city with no pollution along the main street.
Before I came to the United States, I studied finance in Melbourne, Australia for three years and gained my bachelor degree there. I love numbers and this is the reason why I took finance as my major. In the second year of my university life, I found myself like teaching especially English because English is one of my favorite languages. I tried to enroll under education program, but it was too late for me to earn double across degree to complete both of the programs within three years. In the meantime, I decided to postpone my plan and stayed back in the line until the third year passed through.
After receiving my bachelor degree in Australia, I went back to Indonesia. I worked in my father’s company and had a part time job as an English and Mandarin tutor. Although I have good English and Mandarin background, I do not feel confident to teach both of the languages to my students. I collected some information from the Internet and I found UCR is a good choice to be a qualified English teacher.
I was studying TESOL program in UCR and planning to build an English institution in Indonesia. Since Indonesia adapt international material of studying English, it is good for me if I can know the basic methodologies how to teach English in American methods. I took writing class because it was the requirement for TESOL program. Honestly, although I love writing, I do not feel confident in writing because I cannot manage and organize my paragraph well. It is difficult for me to start over with the topic and control my ideas because I do not know where I should start over. I always start with the idea that comes up in my mind straightaway. At the end, my writing will be so messy that I will get confused what I want to discuss for my main idea. However, I will keep on trying to do my best because writing is one of my tools to release my thoughts, opinions and feelings.
Love,
C-ni
