Enjoy! Very Personal.

Philip dear:I am SO thrilled to learn that you remembered the War of Northern Aggression was the Civil War.  Good for you!!! As a grandparent who cherishes American history, I think you know I try very hard to give you and Peter extra knowledge of our American story…unique in all the world…starting with the first settlers in Jamestown and Williamsburg, a closer look at the Revolutionary battles (such as Monmouth Battlefield), the majesty of our government in Washington, D.C. and even the beauty of our country starting with our northern border at Niagara Falls.  All of our “vacations” together have had a little American history thrown in.  Even our early visits to Hershey Park had a purpose.  Mr. Hershey was a wonderful businessman who had great vision…not only for his financial empire but for the benefit of his employees and their families.  That’s how Hershey Park got started. He even started a college with his profits.  Next summer I hope to take you to Charleston, South Carolina where the Civil War started.  You’ll see the Fort where the first shots were exchanged and go to some of pre-bellum plantations outside Charleston.  Should also be great fun!Love you lots and lots,Grandma
