Diligence is a great virtue as long as you don’t neglect your health.

I heard that you are not feeling good.  Could it be perhaps that you were working too hard?  For I know that you are a kind of girl who doesn’t want to be idle.  You always make your hands busy with something worthwhile.  This is a very good trait seldom seen by young girls like you that many people couldn’t help but notice that they come to admire you.  For you have always been a very responsible girl.

But forgive me, if I cannot help myself to be concerned for I worry that you might be overtiring yourself.   Even if I believed that diligence is the mother of good luck as Benjamin Franklin had said, but I just hope that you took the time to relax and unwind whenever you feel stressed out.  I know that life is hard, for it’s just you and your mom, and you love her very much.  But I am glad that you found a special someone to share your life with.  This is the more reason why you have to take extra care of yourself, for if you become sick, you do not only hurt yourself, but more so, you hurt the people you love.  For your sorrow is their sorrow and your pain is their pain.

I know you might say that I am overreacting. That it’s just a simple headache, and needed some rest.  Well, if that’s the case, then I am glad.  Just consider this letter as a reminder of how important rest is to someone who labors so much.

Hope you are well and okay when this letter touches your hand.

More and mzore people need to hear words like this today. They appear to be working so much harder but for naught if it’s going to kil them. Let your friend know that it’s good to work hard, but it’s another thing to kill yourself doing it. You conveyed this perfectly. Michael

I am reading a book about a grandmother who left letters for her granddaughter telling her about her life. It made my think about you and your letters. I love to read them. Keep it up.
