This is a short reading about sorrows from not being more appreciative of Mom. A Letter to Mom would probable reasonate more with mature adults or baby boomers who now have kids of their own. Heartfelt letter meant to capture “thank you’s” to Moms as well.

A Letter to Mom

Mom, this letter is written to apologize to you for anything at all I may have done to hurt you. I love you very much and I care for you always. You were there for me and looked after me when I could not house, feed or clothe myself. Mom, I know that your spirit watches over me because I know you are now sitting up there in heaven. Mother, I apologize if I may have said anything to hurt your feelings while you were here because I know now that you lived only for your children. I was always looking at you as a large woman needing more confidence and needed to lose weight. How superficial! I forgot to look at the real mother who sacrificed for her eight children and kept food on the table; even toys under the Christmas tree. I know now that it must have been hard to raise that many kids and try to keep them in school. I am a success now in life because of your sheer dedication to keep your children healthy, fed, well-clothed and educated. You could have easily given anyone of us up as a single Mom but you kept all of us. Although charity donated toys under the Christmas tree, you made sure that there was a tree there to put the toys beneath. Although you were not a great cook, you managed to have that can of carnation milk and your specialty “jelly cake” for your kids. Although you only received one check a month, you budgeted and made that small check last until the other one came in. You are no longer with me but I still feel your presence. I realize that I am a product of an amazing woman. A woman who without the help of a man but the help of God, kept me and the other kids strong. Mother, I apologize to you and I raise my eyes to you and say thank you for everything.
