In celebration of our birth month, a trip to Apple Hill and Lake Tahoe.

Dear Katharine

Fall is in the air it brings with it many fond memories of times spent with you. The changing colors  as leaves start to fall to the earth brings a smile to my heart,  I can almost see you walking up the walk all bundled up as a few rain drops start to fall.  The whistle of the tea kettle singing in the back ground as you stop to pick up your mail,as you walk up to my door tap ever so lightly a signal letting me know you are home come on by.

Yes fall is here it brings many fond memories of times spent with you, each one brings a tear I wish I could have had more falls with you. We would have been making our plans to head up to apple hill, our favorite thing to do as we celebrated our birth month you and I, stopping off  to enjoy a slice of apple pie by a warm fire a cup of hot cider before we head up to Lake Tahoe.

Oh how you enjoyed exploring the shops in Tahoe, going in to browse was a treat for you and a joy for me  to see how your face would light up, as you took delight in life’s simplest of things, from a old photograph to a beaded purse, this always warmed my heart as it brought a smile to my lips. A day spent exploring followed by lunch. Fond memories of  how you enjoyed your patty melt and fries all washed down with a chocolate shake. Simple pleasures in life that others take for granted.

As we made our way back down the summit, stopping off to pick up a couple of pies one for you and one for me. Once we were home we would decide who would bake their pie in celebration of us. One pie was to be saved for another time, one we shared with family as you sipped your tea, and  memories of fall I spent with you in Lake Tahoe and Apple Hill memories I  will always cherish.

Fall is in the air bringing with it fond memories of times spent with you Katharine, my sister and friend I wish I had more fall days with you instead I spend our birth month reflecting back on day’s gone by, Apple Hill and Lake Tahoe  day trips are  now a thing of the past, the smell of apple pie fills the air as I enjoy a slice and sip a cup of tea  and fond  memories of  you to warm my heart as I wipe a tear away, fall is not the same with out you Katharine.

I will always love and miss you.

My sister and friend
