If only Mother Earth could talk, this is probably what she would say.
To My Children
When God created me, He has one thing in mind, to provide you a space where to live and dwell. He gave me a mission and that is to provide you with everything you need. So I made every seed that you planted to grow. I let my mountains be filled with trees not only to provide fruits and shelters to birds and animals but also to protect you from the typhoon’s rage. I welcomed the fish and all sea creatures to dwell in my vast oceans and seas so as to provide you another source of food if the land failed to give you a good harvest. I filter the rays of the sun that enters my atmosphere so as to protect you from the harms of ultraviolet radiation. I gave you fresh air to provide you with enough oxygen to make you healthy.
But instead of thanking me in return, you just take everything for granted. You never appreciated what I did for you. You tend to destroy everything on your path. You cut trees without replacing them that when it rains so hard, there are no trees to block the wind and hold the water from going down. How many people’s lives and properties have been destroyed because of flood and landslide. You hunt and kill animals just for fun that many of them are now considered as endangered species. Will there still be lions, tigers, elephants and other animals for your children to see tomorrow? You pollute the air with your factories, with your cars, trucks, etc., and with every kind of waste. You pollute my water with all kinds of waste and garbage including the oil coming from your ships. You killed so many fishes and other sea creatures. You use dynamites in fishing that you killed even baby fishes that there are hardly any fish left to grow old for the future generation. You use chemicals that destroy the ozone layer-the layer that protects the earth from the harmful radiation coming from the sun.
You are very foolish. You didn’t realize that by destroying me, you brought more harm to yourself.
I am begging you. Please take care of me for I am very sick. You must take care of me so I can take care of you. You and I need each other to exist. My children, please do change. There is still time. It is not yet too late.
Love,
Mother Earth
