Dear Americans,

It’s like the game of life really. Sure, some hate you some love you. It makes me think about that famous T Shirt a few years ago emblazoned in Arabic, “I am not an American.” Poor loves. Your image as a great nation sure has taken a beaten in recent times. I just want to let you know you are always welcome here.

“What are you writing now, James?” Danny enquired sweetly.

“Well, you know how America’s so unpopular and everyone disliked Bush,” I replied slowly, “Well, I am writing a love letter to every American,” carefully adding, “to make them feel a bit better.”

“What to every Yank!” Danny snorted, “200 million of them. Don’t you risk being called a slut?”

A touch taken aback he did have a point. 

“Go on!” he egged.

Blushing, I continued with a chortle. “Well, I suppose I do run the risk of that. Anyway, I just want to do corny stuff; light. Besides, it might perk them all up. It’ll cheer me up. It cheers us all up!”

“You are a joker, James,” Danny nudged.

So, here I am penning a love-letter to a nation. I don’t give a fig if I risk sounding corny. I loved America. Americans were just great to me when I was there and it’s a shame that the last ten years have been a touch ugly.

And a risk of sounding promiscuous! I want to show y’all the love. Keep being brave, America!
