When dads leave their children, they can’t imagine the broken hearts they leave behind. Christmas is a special day that children want to share with their families, including their daddies who are far away.

Dolls, a bike, or a kite, are some of the toys I might see tonight.  But, all I really want with all my might is just for my daddy to come home tonight.  Oh, what a sight it will be, for him to see his little girl sitting near the tree.  Even though toys are fun, and they can make me happy, they can never replace seeing your face.

Daddy please come home, I’m your only child.  Your child, who misses your smile, who needs to be hugged and kissed goodnight.  You were always here to turn out the light, but now my heart yearns because you are out of sight.

You told me that I was your girl, every time you gave me a whirl.  I know that you are out there, somewhere in that great big world.  I’m here daddy, just where you left me, with mommy.  Daddy, won’t you please come home, just for me?  Just for Christmas?

If I were a daddy I would be on my way home. A simple plea for love should always be answered.

The desperation of the child in your poem breaks my heart. Very well conveyed.

Dads and sometimes moms, who leave their children, by choice, have no idea what broken hearts they create. Sad,but true.

This could be my story, but I just didn’t want him to come back. This little child seems to love and miss the father.

Sorry, Spacecadet, that you had a bad childhood. I missed my daddy whenever he was away and was overjoyed when he returned.
OhSugar, this is a nice piece.

This one is sweet and sad. Daddies are important in their little girls lives.
