Sometimes you feel astounded if assigned to give a eulogy for a friend or a family member.
Here’s a piece I’ve said during the eulogy of a dearly departed friend. Hope this will help you get started.
Let us give thanks and praise to the Almighty God for the forty nine years of a blessed life He gave to Elsie and almost twenty five years of service as a government worker.
God works in mysterious ways.
True enough that He works mysteriously, reminding us to be prepared at all times for we do not know what comes next.
Each of us has its own set of friends who come our way to add meaning to our life.
Others seem to be just around in good times; but my friend Elsie was here for me in all trying times.
For me, Elsie was my consistent light. She became my best friend even for a short period of time I worked in this institution.
I was very comfortable with her. For me, she was the sister I never had, which I could turn to for friendship and support.
Our friendship went through smoothly and our longest bonding was during our weeklong field trip in Cebu City last year. And I will never forget it.
Elsie taught us that life is short. Although we love her dearly, we could not make her stay.
Her golden hearts stopped beating, her hardworking hands at rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best…
It has been said, usually a son or a daughter will bury his/her mother or father, but our situation now is the irony of it.
To the family of Elsie, we are here to give comfort as we grieve for the loss of our beloved Elsie.
She was really a good worker, a friend and a refuge.
Good bye friend.
And, may you rest in peace.
