By Christopher Bernard Lidstone.

You looked at me and said it’s time

The day would be yours and mine

Twenty miles to take you there

With no car the ride we’d share

-

Dad would drive and mom would go

It rained so hard we’d take it slow

Excited but so worried too

For the baby and for you

-

Dr. Marten got the call

He’d be there for you, after all

I didn’t know what to do

But I was happy to be with you

-

The pain you felt would come and go

But no tears did you show

Hours passed, excitement grew

I tried to sit and wait with you

-

But watching you cringe with pain

Was driving me almost insane

I couldn’t watch, I couldn’t leave

I couldn’t help, I couldn’t breath

-

In and out the room I’d walk

To ease my mind I’d talk and talk

Your mother came, your brother too

Just so show that they love you

-

Finally the moment came

Life would never be the same

Our son arrived and I was there

A day for fathers everywhere
