This is a generic letter so that others may use it if they chose. Writing a letter to a family member or friend that lives far away can be daunting… but remember that they did not always live far away so share those memories in black and white.
I hope these words find you doing well and in good spirits. We are all doing quite well here.
I miss you every day, each day is another memory that I am not sharing with you. I miss our youth, my how the seasons have changed us!
Do you remember our long nature walks? The first time we whispered to each other about a boys kiss? Or the time you helped me, as you always did.
We shared so many firsts together, that first beer, that first cigarette, even that first step into the world on our own.
Do you remember your first apartment? My, how small it was!, but you made it a home. I loved being able to visit with you.
And when you had your first born, I can still remember the fear, joy and pride in your eyes as you held him, he was so small! He is all grown now. I am proud to be his aunt as I am sure you are proud to be the mother of such a strapping young man.
And your last born, a darling she was! Precious and light, she brought your world to a new hieght, and I was there to witness the glory of nature. Soon, she too will be all grown, and some day, she may be writing a letter such as this… For we all grow and leave the nest.
I miss you dear sister, and I am grateful for everyday that I can remember our time spent together. I am grateful to have such a kindred spirit as my friend and guide in this great big world, with you as my sister, I know I am not alone.
I close for now dear, but know in my heart and in my mind, we visit today, tomorrow and always. Miles between us will not sever these bonds.
Please do drop me a line some time,
with everlasting love,
your lil sis,
