Letter from Stanley to Parents.

Hey! I haven’t seen you and Dad in a while. Anyways, how’s Dad been doing on his latest experiments? Does the apartment still smell that bad? I really do feel sorry for that old woman who lived in a shoe. Haha! I don’t want the landlord won’t evict you guys because of the bad odor. I hope Dad finishes his sneaker project quicker, so it won’t smell that bad for you.

Camp is hard, but challenging. I’m still trying to get used to being here. It’s only been one month since I’ve been here, I think. I haven’t been keeping track of the days very much. We’ve been running obstacle courses. It’s really exciting. My favorite part is swinging on the monkey bars. I believe I am getting faster day after day! We also had to swim long distances on the lake. Nothing beats a cool swim after a long, hot sunny day. After that, we got refreshing lemonade from our counselor, Mr. Pendanski, who squeezed fresh lemon from the lemon trees that grow along the walls of our tents. Tomorrow, we will learn to rock climb. I know it sounds scary, but I promise I’ll be careful. I just can’t wait to start climbing up the rock wall. It’s not all fun and games here, but I think I’m getting a lot out of it. I’ve lost a lot of weight due to last week’s activity: soccer. My teammates and I have only lost one game against the other teams. We won a big golden trophy!

Mr. Pendanski said that the activities that we do here build character, so I’m trying my hardest at everything. The boys here are very friendly to me. They always save me a seat in the cafeteria. Also, the food here tastes just like it is from a fancy restaurant, but, of course, it’s nothing compared to your delicious homemade chicken pasta pie. I also miss your fried onion rings! We have main courses, appetizers, entrees, desserts, and a choice of beverage, so don’t worry that I’ll go hungry. Every night after dinner, we are allowed to play all sorts of games in the game room. There’s a home theatre where we get to watch movies and eat popcorn. We get to play pinball and computer games in the arcade. I feel like I am going to a real summer camp.

I sleep in a comfortable suite with six other boys. We each get our own twin-size bed. Every night, Mr. Pendanski brings in a thick clean blanket for each of us because it gets very cold in the night. Each suite has a personal Plasma TV, where my friends and I play with the Wii every night. Also, the bathroom is huge! There is a jacuzzi, where I bathe daily. Sometimes, we have water fights. It’s very fun, but I still want to go home faster because I miss you. I can’t wait to see you guys again!

Oh what a sweet letter ! Stanley assures his parents that he is having no problem in the camp, he has friends and he is comfortable, so there is no need to worry. However he is missing home and would love to reurn to his parents soonest possible. The letter has been written beautifully and it reflects Stanley’s deep love for his parents
