A letter to Obama.

If Barack Obama was sitting in a chair near me right now, I would congratulate him on becoming the president of the United States. After many years of racial segregation, an African American has risen to the highest, ranked position in the United States. Before, African Americans were highly disrespected, and were given poor jobs, and pay because of their race. In a relatively short period of time, African Americans became from black slaves, to equal Americans.

Martin Luther King Jr. wanted racial segregation to end. He put his life in danger resorting to discussion, not violence. His decision was dangerous, but he believed in his dream, and pursued it. Later, Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated, but soon after, his dream came true. Racial segregation had ended in most places in the United States, African Americans are mostly treated as equal, and the white and black people could be at peace with each other.

After that time, African Americans soon became much more respected than they were before. White people were no longer dominant, and everyone was equal. To finally have an African American president is incredible. After Martin Luther King Jr. ended segregation, the chance for an African American to rise to a high rank grew. All of the previous presidents of the United States were white, but now that Obama was elected as president, there’s an African American president. This proves that whites and blacks are now mostly equal.

Obama’s victory for the position of the president of the United States fulfilled Martin Luther King’s wish. Racial discrimination has mostly disappeared, and now there’s an African American president. Obama’s presidency would be an important event in the United States. Not only does he now represent the United States, but he also represents how it changed in the past years.

Optimistic. If you know human nature than surely you must realize that there will always be an ongoing struggle to maintain Justice in the world.
