The fourth letter in a series of random missives to the Norse god of Chaos.
Dear Yimir’s Kinsman,
It will be interesting to see how many kennings I will be able to come up with for you. I know that my reluctance to name you directly can make for a bit of a challenge in communication at times, but we both know what happens everytime I do so. This close to a major family holiday, I simply can not afford the uproar that came of last time. I will say, however, it was most entertaining.
I do wonder if your sense of humor can manifest in others. It seems as though my children are growing stranger by the day and I’m beginning to suspect this is, in part, due to your influence. After all, I’ve never seen children play ‘hide and shriek’ before this morning. I’m not entirely sure what more to add to this little letter.
The holidays have been just barely tolerable. I’m behind on my letters and yule tide cards again. I got most of my baking done but I think that is due to attempting to plan it like they planned the storming of Normandy. Surprisingly, you didn’t throw a wrench into those plans. I’m not sure if it is a good sign or a calm before the storm. Beloved is insisting that we’ll be sure to see your smiling face at any point over the next two weeks.
I’m fairly sure that you are busy with your own obligations and such. After all, you have a large family and I suspect they all are just as eager to see you for Winter Finding as my family is to see me. It is my hope that the celebrations of the Solstice and Winter Finding all bring you great joy and laughter. If we do happen to see you, i hope that it brings joy to all of us. This year has been long and difficult.
You’ve done what you could to be of help, which made problems go sideways into the realm of weirdly sovable. For the rest of the season, it is my hope that things will be well.
