Oh no! I was contaminated by a tortilla chip and I wrote this letter to a person that has an antidote that will help me retain ONE memory.

It was a slow and boring Monday like every other one. I had just finished the daily warm up and was now asked to write a paper on one memory that has changed my life. As I took out a piece of paper for my essay, I saw my teacher grab a bag of tortilla chips. She said that the tortilla chips were “brain food” to help us write. Normally I would wolf down those chips, but it was early in the morning and I was tired, so I only took one. After tossing the chip in my mouth and continuing on my paper, my teacher passes out a blue paper with the word “newsletter” at the top in bold. I read silently as she read it aloud. To my surprise, a local tortilla chip factory was contaminated and anyone who has consumed a tortilla chip in the last twelve months will lose all past memories. My life is full of good times and meaningful memories, so I ask that you please consider me worthy of your antidote.

Even though it is often said that people never change, there is one event that has changed my life and made me the person I am today. It was not something very important like a new president or a major tragedy. It was the first time I ever went to the movies without my parents. I do not remember exactly when it was, but the movie was RV. This event was special to me because I felt free without my parents. I could talk to my friends, tell jokes, and be myself without having that awkward feeling I get when I watch a movie with my parents. Now, I always go to the move theater without my parents.

So Dr. Smith, please give me the antidote. Seeing a movie with my friends and no parents is the one memory that I would like to keep, if I do not get this antidote, all the laughs and memories I shared will be gone forever. Thank you for considering me a recipient for your memory saving antidote.

                                                                                                Sincerely,

                                                                                                Avery Burton
