RE: Head Boy Application
Dear Headmaster, Sir Alan Steer,
I would like to apply for the position of Head Boy as I believe that I am an ideal candidate to fill various responsibilities involved. My attributes and qualities which I encompass, will allow me to be the “voice” of the students as well as being able to liaise between teaching staff and students.
Seven Kings High School has given me a number of opportunities which other school would not have given me; as a result, I feel I am indebted to repay this kind gratitude by giving something back to the life of Seven Kings High School. My personality consists of an undoubtedly open and approachable demeanour which I believe will allow me to make contact with a large number of people.
During the last five years, I have been heavily involved in various extra curricular activities – ranging from facilitating summer school workshops for young people with challenging behaviour (August 2006) to being a lead member in the school council at my previous school (2002-2007). By being a long term school council member, I possess many skills required for school council meetings, such as: meeting tight deadlines, being committed and ultimately reliable.
Additionally, whilst I was leading a summer school workshop, I stimulated students with challenging behaviour to succeed with their personal goals, and as a result, I saw that they respected me and thought my opinions to be of importance. In this way, I listened to the students and they found me to be a friendly person.
Being an ambassador for Seven Kings High School requires an individual who can not only express their views clearly, but also a person who has high confidence to address a large group of people. I am an individual capable of giving a speech to “a large and distinguished adult audience” on behalf of the Local Authority and the Ofsted HMI’s (Education Directorate), where Jackie Hewison (Head of Behaviour Support) quoted me as “truly inspiration, with such confidence, integrity and humour” where “all present agreed that the presentation was the highlight of the conference being both informative and engaging”.
On a separate OFSTED conference, “the audience was extremely impressed by” my “maturity, eloquence and insight” that I had offered; where Lynda Haddock, Principal Manager of Learning Support Services, addressed my speech “involving young people in the decision that affect them” as “astute”.
On the whole, I hope I have endeavoured to present myself in a positive light; shown that I am both a responsible ambassador for a reputable school as Seven Kings High School, and can manage my time effectively between academic and extracurricular activities. Thank you very much for reading this letter.
Yours Sincerely,
