A letter appealing to Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson and John Cornyn to call on Congress and President Bush to try and help the Darfuri people.
Date: Thursday, May 29, 2008
Dear Hon. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson,
As a lot of us know, every day, every hour, every minute, there are people suffering and dying in the Darfur region of Sudan. And what really bothers most people, is that they cannot cry to the world that they need help; that they are suffering and need help. They are virtually invisible. This is where I, as an individual, and hundreds of thousands of others come in. We want to be the voice of the millions of Darfuris that are in distress right now, and are appealing to you to join us and try to help stop the violence in Darfur. There has been much effort, but much more needs to be done. The Sudanese government is ignoring and denying the fact that there have been mass killings in Darfur. They say “It is merely tribal wars”. It is not tribal war. This is GENOCIDE we are dealing with. They are prohibiting the UN’s help, blocking them from airports, and refusing the aid they are providing them with.
Please call on Congress and President Bush and suggest these possible solutions:
The U.S. can play a great role in this. If this is ignored, and Khartoum continues their killing spree, more Darfuri men, women, and children will die. Now. Now is the time. If we are blessed with the money, tools and knowledge to help, why not? Thank you for your time and consideration of my ideas.
