When I visited Pylos, I met King Nestor and we conversed for some time, we prayed to Poseidon, and then after eating and drinking out of the golden cup of wine, he asked why I was at his palace. I responded with a speech I had been preparing because I felt it would bring out the best in people and that they would provide better answers for me. After reciting the speech to him, he said that I sounded exactly like my father when he spoke and that made me feel closer to him than I had ever been, even though I have never met him in my life. After that he told me about his experiences in the war against Troy and how Odysseus was a brilliant man with excellent plans and tactics, like disguising himself as a local beggar and seeing the inner workings of the city, which no other mortal could rival. He also commented on his excellent fighting skills which make me feel proud of him, even when I’ve never seen him before. When I was ready to depart, we packed out belongings onto the ship and we left.
