About life and love in the Florida Everglades, and emerging full of grace.

Let me tell you about my lady
Floridian family to the core
Hunt, fish, trapping, Everglady
Desperados, Hiding from the Law.
Actually now, she has two sides
Not schizo but complementing
One is seen, and the other one hides
Appearing just when the need’s fomenting
She can sit around a campfire
Drink a beer, and spin a yarn
Guitar and banjo in her choir
Cursin’ like a sailor, and not just, darn!
She likes to go four-wheeling
Playing in the mud and squealing
Her two-step moves have the right feeling
And Hank Williams baby, leaves her reeling
Well you can take her down to Palm Beach
In society she knows how to sit and stand
The right way to eat, recline and reach
And lay it on thick for the gaudy and grand
She knows how to walk down the stair
Without even glancing at her feet
And she glides around as if on air
A book securely balancing neat
Her daddy taught her how to cuss
Then finishing school, and I ain’t lyin’
Her step ma taught her how to fuss
Now She’s complete, and I ain’t cryin’
I prayed to my Lord to fill my void
Answered my prayer, gave a treasure
Just when I’d thought my life devoid
He filled it with love at no half-measure
“The Lord recompense thy work and a full
reward be given thee of the Lord God of Israel
under whose wings thou art come to trust.”
(Ruth 2:12)
