About a man who has been laid off from work.

I’ve got those layoff blues.
I’m feeling pretty low.
I’ve been pink slipped out,
And I’m running out of dough.
I’ve got those layoff blues.
My family is very sad.
“We’re downsizing Joe,”
It makes me feel so mad.
I’ve got those layoff blues.
Getting a job is awfully tough.
I’ve applied for fifty jobs,
But that’s not nearly enough.
I’ve got those layoff blues.
I need the economy to turn around
Or else our future is bleak,
And we’re heading out of town.
I’ve got those layoff blues.
I’ve almost broken down and cried.
I have to get a job soon
Or I will crumble up inside.
So hear my prayers.
Help out my family.
I want to earn some cash,
And not live in poverty.
