I’d just come home from work
When I jumped into the pool.
I was staring at the stars, not believing,
I’m finally back in school.
I wasted most of my life away
Thinking I should play this role.
I guess it’s finally about the time
That I should reach a higher goal.
I know I can’t find peace
Until I’m proud of who I am.
Procrastination’s been my downfall
And a reason not to just be a man.

The road I’m traveling now is long and hard-
I know that this is true!
But, the road I’d been on was rough.
Looking back at time, I’ll tell you, “It flew”!
I don’t want to waste another day.
I’m making changes for the better now.
I refuse to believe that it’s too late,
Although, I’m wiping sweat off of my brow.
I have so much to look towards
And many good things that I want to do.
The most important thing I want
Is to share this new life with you!

You, the one that I want to know me!
You, the one who really showed me
That life has so many of the rewards
We all keep searching for.
What I know of you, I promise,
I don’t need to search anymore!

I think so much about our union
And how, it seems, it was so very brief.
Since the day that it ended, I pray that in your heart,
Like mine, there is no relief!
You said you’d stay true to your heart.
Still, I’m not sure you know where it stands.
As you know, I’ve been keeping my distance,
Allowing fate to stay within God’s plans.
If the day when I see you never comes again,
I hope that you cherish this one thing…
You found me looking for some happiness in life
And I came through for you that Spring!

You, the one who really needs love!
You, the one I can’t seem to let go of!
I’ll be your friend forever, if that’s the only
Capacity left in your heart.
It’s not exactly what I had hoped for,
But it beats the fact that we had to part!
