I’m sure everyone has heard of and knows this popular song by T.I. and Rihanna. Well just in case nobody has picked up on the message they’re trying to convey in the song, it makes zero sense to us folks who don’t have the luxury of walking in Rihanna’s shoes (as she says in the song), especially in our recession state. So, here is the more appropriate and suitable version for us broke people.

(Here’s the video if you want the music to go along with it)

Intro (T.I.)

What you need to do is be thankful for the broke life that you got

You know what I’m sayin’

Stop lookin’ at what we rich folks got

and start worrying about your own s***

Cuz y’all in a recession and we ain’t

Let’s give it to ‘em baby girl

Chorus (Rihanna)

You’re never gonna be a shining star

With fancy clothes and fancy ca-ars

And then you’ll see, you’re never gonna go far

‘Cause nobody important knows who you a-are

So live your life (ay), ay ay ay

Keep on chasing that paper

Just live your life (oh), ay ay ay

Ain’t got no time for your family and friends

Just live your life (ay), ay ay ay

I’m rich and you’re not

Just live your life (oh), ay ay ay

Since the paper chases me

I’m just living my life (ay), my life (oh), my life (ay), my life (oh)

I’m just living my life (ay), my life (oh), my life (ay), my life (oh)

Verse 1 (T.I.)

Never mind what the landlord says, ignore him until he fades away

Strange enough, everyone taught me it’s not about the money

Safe to say, I paved the way for my relatives not to live that way

Y’all broke folks be wasting days away, you think I’m gonna save the day?

Consider me your bloodsucker, money i think you should pay

Instead of acting like us, contribute to your boss in a major way

I ain’t saying I never been broke but I’d be crazy to still be living that way

Y’all say money ain’t important yet y’all still work a J-O-B anyway

It doesn’t matter if its day or night, you’re working overtime everyday

I make money either way, even if I just stayed home and slept the day

Some envy us no matter what we say, that’s okay cuz they afraid

I donate to charities, but not much of that goes to the actual charity anyway

Ya’ll have to pray for it to rain, but the rain follows me either way

I only do the work once and get paid over and over again everyday

Y’all gotta do it five times a week, no thanks I’m loving this break

I’ll just sit on my money while watching your’s fade away

Chorus (Rihanna)

You’re never gonna be a shining star

Heh, that made me smile in an “Oh, God, I’m still unemployed” kind of way, even though I’m ridiculously sick of hearing that song on the radio.

    Still unemployed here too lol
    We all need a smile

lol yeah, I felt that I had to point all out of that since the sheep MTV and BET crowds, who kept requesting the damn song, were to gullible to do it themselves.
