This is a song/poem I wrote regarding agnosticism, environmentalism, and spirituality.
Well I don’t think I am a Christian,
I just like to sing my praises straight to the source,
And I don’t think I need to feel remorseful,
Except for the species that we kill every day,
I don’t think it was meant for it to be this way,
And for all of the people less fortunate than I am,
I’d like to say a prayer and lend a helping hand,
For not everybody is as lucky as I am.
Chorus:
I am lucky. I am so lucky. Lucky to be here.
Lucky to breathe here. Lucky to be free here.
I am so lucky. And I would like to thank God for putting me here.
And while we are here nature we must preserve,
For nature is the thing that we are here to serve,
And although people think that it’s the other way around,
Man evolved in the forest eating from the ground,
And we must only take what nature is able to give,
And leave enough space for the natural world to live,
So we can enjoy its glory and its beauty ’til the end,
When the universe dies and a new one born again.
‘Cause we are lucky. We are so lucky. Lucky to be here.
Lucky to breathe here. Lucky to be free here.
We are so lucky. And we should all thank God for putting us here.
Well I tell you we are lucky here, more so than we know,
And when we plant a flower we’d do well to let it grow,
So come on everybody, let’s start a revolution,
A society based on nature, a natural institution,
So come on everybody we can do it we really can,
Restore the natural habitat and bring abundance to our land.
Chorus:
