Darkness falls at 11:43

(Part one of 2)

It was a night Adrian would never forget.  He climbed into his bed at 11:43 pm.  Thoughts cycled through his head as he had trouble falling asleep.  One thought in particular kept reappearing.  It was that of his current love interest.  As his head filled up with nonsense he slowly began shutting his eyes.  As he was about to completely close his eyelids, he heard a thump.  Now his eyes were jerked open.  His heart was pounding as he felt the blood rush through his veins.

He sneaked over to the window to investigate the noise.  He looked around but there was nothing.  The moonlight penetrated through the glass right onto Adrian’s face.  He became entranced by it as he stared deeply into the glowing object.  It was indeed a thing of beauty.  Adrian took his time looking and admiring the glowing moon, forgetting all about the noise he had heard.  The same thoughts rushed back into his head.  As time passed, Adrian became tired.  He crawled back into his bed.

With the thought of his love interest still engrained in his memory, he again began the process of falling asleep.  This time, he did so successfully.  However, it was not to last.

4 minutes and 11 seconds after he had fallen asleep he was awoken.  This time it was a bright light coming through his window.  Thoughts of the girl and panic raced through his mind.  After he calmed himself down, he examined the situation.  At first he thought it was the bright moon’s light that was coming through his window, but it couldn’t have been it.  It was too bright to be the moon.

Adrian slipped out of his covers and maneuvered his way towards the window staying as close to the wall as possible.  He peeped through the glass.

As soon as he did, an even brighter light shot through the glass.  Adrian was blinded.  He covered his eyes with his forearms.  When he finally gained his composure he sprinted to his bed.  He didn’t know what else to do.  However, something was wrong!

As Adrian was about to climb under his covers he suddenly stopped.  He didn’t want to stop, but he had to.  He was paralyzed.  All of his movement was gone.  The bright light was still present, and Adrian wanted to close his eyes to protect himself from it but he couldn’t.  He had to endure the pain.  But then, something else happened.  Adrian started to levitate.  He was not the one responsible for the levitation.  Adrian could tell an outside force was acting upon him.

He stood still in this levitated state for 1 minute and 45 seconds hovering above his bed.  Then, all of a sudden, he began to move towards his window and the light.  It was as if the light was a magnet and Adrian was a piece of metal.  Now he could not help but be attracted to the light.  He wanted to be absorbed by it.  At one point he even thought the light was the pathway to heaven.  Adrian was completely blinded now.  What little sight he had left was now completely gone as he approached the apex of the light.  The closer he came to the source the more the light intensified.  He could feel it.
