Phrasing Chaos is a short story I’ll be writing about a French family in World War Two. As you probably know, France surrendered to Germany during the war, and much of it was under German control. This fictional story is based on the Bedeaus, a small family suffering the fall of France and the hardships of the war.
Prelude
Marc Bedeau was a lovable little child born and raised in Paris, France. He was adventurous, pure minded, and handsome. All the perfect traits of a child rolled in one. He was born on July 2, 1916, two years before the end of World War One, and 23 years from the start of World War Two. He grew up with his mother, Élisabeth Bedeau, and sister, Laure. His father had been killed during the Battle of Verdun in 1916.
By the time he was 24, he had a nice family. His wife, Noémi, was young and beautiful, with long blond hair and stunning green eyes. His children, Julie and Thomas, were full of love and life, and they all lived in a little house above their shop, were they all had busy lives. They spent most of their days scuttling about their busy shop, unpacking, waiting on customers, and other general things in a general store.
They had heard about the invasion of Poland, and were frightened at the prospect of the war. reaching France. They had decided to evacuate Paris on June 12th of 1940, and flee to Orléans, a city south of France. They thought they might have a chance there.
They waited, already packed and ready,
until June 3.
