A pathologist examines two dead young women and passes sections of organs to pathology for examination. The pathologist examines the specimens and questions the accuracy of the collection of tissue. When the collection has been confirmed the answer is devastating. The impact of this finding stretches far beyond the lives and families of the two women.
An hour later she got another phone call. She looked at her watch. She must soon get to the doctor. If she was late she could be arrested. The call was from Monica Darr. She was crying. “They want me today in the hospital.”
“Why?”
“Implant. They say that the ova will be ready late tonight or tomorrow. They want me there in an hour so they can get me ready. They treat me like I am a nobody. In four months I will look like a blimp.”
Brittany cleared her throat. “We are nobody’s. Do you have any idea what happened this month?”
“It will change.”
“I don’t think so. We are history. I suggest you find some work in porn films. They are not as particular. You can do B porn when you are pregnant. I can’t even do those with this thing in me. Did you see that awful Deedee Manners last night?”
“No. I refuse to watch that trash. She doesn’t even have a nice set of tits and her butt looks like a boy’s. Her voice is terrible.”
“She has a set of tits now, and her butt is filling out nicely.”
“Surgery?”
“No. Pregnant. It’s her second implant. She had one last year. She finished a movie in March. She had nothing scheduled for the summer so she volunteered to be implanted in February. She got two parts over the summer, both wanted a pregnant woman and she did the pictures. Both gave her percentages, both are selling. Last night she was on Leno. She is busting out all over. She wore a top with a sheer middle. Her belly was bulging. How can anyone want to look at that?”
“I don’t know.”
“She actually apologized for volunteering to have the implant early because it made it look like she was using her status to avoid making her miss work. She told them she just felt it better to get on with it. She also said she may volunteer for a third implant if nothing went wrong with this one.”
“That is crap.”
“She told them any money over expected on her pictures and recordings this year goes to a charity. This is ridiculous. “Everything she is in sells.”
“Sick.”
“But she is getting rich and we aren’t even making it.”
“Don’t blame her. We made the wrong choice.”
