A pathologist examines two dead young women and passes sections of organs to pathology for examination. The pathologist examines the specimens and questions the accuracy of the collection of tissue. When the collection has been confirmed the answer is devastating. The impact of this finding stretches far beyond the lives and families of the two women.
The slide changed, she looked up. “This is my current medical report. I am now carrying twins. Some of you will have a problem with this and if you do, please bear with me and do not be critical till you think it through. These children are mine and my husband’s. We wanted two more children and I didn’t get pregnant. We know why now. I had considered two possibilities. The first was to have a couple children for someone else first or have my own first. Things I considered were, “What if something happens that I can”t carry my own?’ and “What happens to another couple if I fail again? What if my uterus will not work?” I feel that these two reasons dictate that I carry my children first, then volunteer to carry at least one or two for someone else. I know I could be criticized for this but I feel it is best for me and for that other woman out there who I will attempt to carry a child for later.”
She looked around. “Are there any questions?”
The gal from AP was taken first. “When are you due?”
“Actually I am about two months right now, not showing. I will deliver about July 4 but there is some concern that I may have a C-sect a few weeks earlier.”
There were no other questions.
