All in one day Detective Tamara Davis’s life will change, after being betrayed by the entire department she’ll gain powers that she never fathomed and be forced to change her entire outlook on life. In part one of this story Tamara discovers her destiny.
Then she backed up and smiled again, “Sweetheart, what is that in your right eye?”
Tamara had been entranced on the image of her mom but that trance had been broken, now she stared at herself directly in the eyes and at first she didn’t see anything but leaning closer she could see something sticking out of her right eye. Something orange and purple.
“What the?” What was going on? That was the main question now running through Tamara’s mind. No longer was worried about her sanity, her mother had made her forget about the mental trouble that she thought she was in. Now she saw something else to worry about.
Tamara picked at it and tried to pull it out but each time she thought she had it, it slipped out of her grasp. She inched closer to the mirror trying to get a better view of it, until her forehead pressed again the cool material of the mirror.
Finally she grasped the orange and purple thing again and tugged at it, and suddenly she was spinning and dropping through pits of black and orange and purple spun away from her.
She had no time or strength or consciousness to scream. She just landed with a thug and suddenly was she in a small colorless room, that waved and glowed as if lit by candle, but some how Tamara knew it was not the room but her sight that gave off that glow.
There was a sudden movement and through a sudden clearing of white smoke there appeared the deputy commissioner and his publicist.
He stood over MaryAnne fuming as she sniffed and heaved out apologies covered in thick red mucus and blood. Across from her one of the major city donors sat looking disgusted and next to him and Asian man that she had never seen or met before sat looking amused.
“Tell us. Again, MaryAnne, how was it that such a powerful spell could not be cast over someone that does not even know of her own magic?” The donor asked.
“Sir, she has great power-”
“ She, has great power?” He mocked her and stood, now enraged. “And what of yours? Have you none or so little that you couldn’t even hypnotize someone that is already ignorant.”
