Chapter 1

A ranger, winded by the night, Visibly invisible, cloaked by the wind. Across shadows with great swiftness. Scouters of the warriors, listening in. The advantage of war.

…”Dash? Dash!? Wake up!” A distant voice called. “Your going to be late for breakfast! Hurry up and wake.”

Dash, a 15 year old boy, red hair, quite small, strongly built even though his appearance does not show it, his exams begin today. Not any old exam. A status exam. A status exam tells what kingdom job you will acquire. There are many Kingdom jobs, Battleschool, Horse master school, Ranger’s school, Thief school, and more.

Dash has dreams of joining Horse master school. Sure, he is quite small in size, but his uncanny strength makes up for it although it does not show as often as he would want. To hold down a horse you must be strong and as Dash has this, he was not destined this fate.

“Wha?” Dash scratching his head while waking confused said.

“Come on Dash! Get up!” The voice of a female called.

This female voice was of a wardmate of Dash. Jenny, blond hair, rather dashing in appearance, also 15, looks out for Dash and keeps him in order. A personal reminder as Dash would like to think of her. Dash and Jenny share somewhat of a bond, like brother and sister. Over the past 5 years they have been together as wardmates. So they should know the ins and outs of each other.

“Ehh….one second Jenny.” Dash now stretching his arms and legs out said.

“We have to hurry Dash, we might be late like yesterday. Plus, today you need the extra food for your Kingdom Job exams.”

Dash instantly rose from his bed in a heartbeat and quickly walked into the bathroom. The sound of water flushed down onto the floorboard of the bathroom. Dash splashed water onto his face to wake him from the morning grogginess. Then, started to wet his hair so it was slick and given the impersonation that is was combed back. Dash came out of the bathroom with dripping wet hair and new clothes on. A wool white shirt, a brown leather vest, black comforted cargo pants, and soft leather boots, all so comforting when walking.

Jenny, waiting in the kitchen quickly arose from her seat and walked into the bathroom. The sound of water came on and Jenny took a little longer to get ready.
