Chapter One:

Deep in the subterranean realm of Athyx, the vermin-kissed elves were at war.  An uprising of their own kin-creations had turned on them.  Unfaithful vermin-kissed elves were tortured until they submitted to serving Na-Dene.  Those who had unbreakable wills were sacrificed to Na-Dene in a vile ritual before all within their house and were transformed into embodiments of mindless madness and pure chaos.  They were no longer humanoid creations, but an oozing and ever-changing specimen of madness called chaos minions.  All chaos minions were magically transported out into an area of the wilds that was designated to distribute them safely away from the city where they could roam mindlessly through the darkness.

The vermin-kissed elves that had their wills broken were also publicly displayed before their house and through a second known ritual; they were transformed into vermin-kissed horrors.  The vermin-kissed elves screamed during the magical process as their bodies merged with their totem vermin and augmented both of their features, as they became one vessel of chaos.  They became giant-sized vermin with the lower bodies of a giant rat, spider, centipede or some other vermin type and the upper body of the vermin-kissed elf similar to a centaur. Vermin-kissed elves were the wicked offspring of good elves and Na-Dene the Vermin Queen and Mistress of Chaos.  They had dark skin and wielded venomous magic that could maim or kill their foes.  The wicked elves could also summon a minion of their goddess to aid them in battle.  Each vermin-kissed elf was part of a house governed by a monarch house queen.  Among those house queens, there was a council and one ruling queen over all other houses.  Each individual vermin-kissed elf bonded with a specific vermin, and that became the totem of that vermin-kissed elf.  The totem bond decided what kind of vermin that particular vermin-kissed elf summoned.

The faithful subdued vermin-kissed horrors believed that it was their responsibility to free their goddess if possible.  The vermin-kissed elves refused to listen to once unfaithful abominations.  The vermin-kissed horrors were divided.  Many served their house queens loyally, believing that whatever the house queen ordered was the will of Na-Dene.  Others that had taken up the devotion of priestesses of Na-Dene believed that it was their duty to rescue their goddess or die trying.  The vermin-kissed elves were also divided.  Some believed that it was necessary to switch their devotion to the dark god Viscus in order for their race to survive.  Because of this blasphemous debate, the faithful vermin-kissed horrors turned on the elves and left the city of Maovolence to form an army of their own and first punish the vermin-kissed elves for not even trying to rescue their goddess and secondly make the attempt their selves.  Each house sent their soldiers into battle against the traitorous vermin-kissed horrors that believed it was the will of Na-Dene to punish the vermin-kissed elves for their failure to rescue their imprisoned deity.  Priestesses’ had little power due to the absence of their goddess from her domain.
