We rode for the rest of the day and arrived at Glasgow just after nightfall. Even then Glasgow was a large city. It was the home of the council of lords for Scotland long before it became the capital of Scotland. It wasn’t as big then as it is now but it was the largest city in that area even now but what I saw as a big city back then was little more then tiny town.

We stabled our horses at a stable just outside of town and moved to the Inn that the man had told me to meet him at. It was a small Inn on an unnoticed street but it was cleaner than I expected. Unlike the bars on the main streets there were few people and very little activity. I asked the barmaid for a room because even if we were not taking the job we were not going home tonight.

“Do you see this man, Ashnà?” Laela whispered to me.

I looked around the room and saw a man in the shadows near the far wall. “I think that’s him over there but I’m not sure. Let’s get a table and see if he comes and joins us.”

We worked our way through the building and made our way over to the person in the shadowed corner so we could get a better look. It was who we were looking for and I knew that he was waiting for us.

“I knew you would come.” He smiled as we got closer. “It’s not every day that someone offers you a ship and a crew to do with as you please.”

We sat down with him as bar made came up. “Here is your Scotch. What would the gentleman and lady like?”

“Mutton.” I said with a grunt. “An entire leg and make it rare.”

“I’d like that as well.” Laela smiled. “And some potato’s please.”

The waitress left and the man leaned into the table. “I am surprised that someone of your history would eat here and in public.”
