Mikes story of what he can remember. Not all that nice.
I began to tell my story. I remembered very little of the real world just the world that I lived in. I told them of the pain that wouldn’t stop and how I missed Laela so much that I wanted to go join her. The bottle couldn’t kill me so I tried to find someone who could. I soon found that I was the only one who had a blade that could do it and that blade was locked way in the vault in New York, a town that I couldn’t go to without having to return to the sea.
I told them that soon I had become numb to the world around me and how I found that the drunken stupor was better than the pain I felt when I was sober. I did things that made others cringe even if they had only thought of it. I still regret some of my actions and there are some that I can’t forget nor do I want to, those are things I do not regret and even enjoyed.
“So what is the last think you remember clearly?” Nathaniel asked. “It can’t be just the killing of the judge.”
“I remember waking up just south of Philadelphia at a river that I can’t even remember.” I smiled at them as I thought of that day. “I think I had been drinking lightly that week. I knew I was low on money and was on my way out of Philadelphia after getting some gold I stashed there incase of emergencies.”
“Was during the time that you had slipped us?” Scurvy growled.
“Aye it was.” I nodded at the dog. “I had slipped yoo only a week before. I woke and took a couple of swigs from my bottle to clear my head then headed down to a near by river to wet my head. There I was surprised to find three necked and very fine ladies.
“I sat in shock for a time watching them. They were the most beautiful things I had seen since I had last seen Laela before I left on my last trip. It might have been the booze but I couldna move. For the first time since her death I wanted female company.
“As I sat watching those girls I was noticed but unlike I was expecting they didina shy away, in fact one of them, a red head with large breasts, beckoned me to join them. I am not one to deny a lady so I did as I was asked.
