Chapter one.

                                           The Beginning of the End

“Who are you?” Todd questioned.

“The names Hunter. I’m so glad I ran into you guys, I don’t know what I was gonna do if I –” Todd interupted me.

“Yeah, whatever. Your welcome your alive.” Everyone stared at me with this maniacal glare.

“So..What..What are your names?” I looked at everyone else in the group.

“I’m Sky.” Sky replied with a heavenly tone.

“Yoo, I’m Jack.” Jack sounded like he was in a good mood.

There were a total of four of us in the group. Sky, Jack, and Todd. Jack was your average Joe. He was nice, but not too nice. He never speaked unless he really had something too say, which wasn’t often. Sky was this beautiful girl, who knew her way around. She was nice, and considerate of others. The exact oppositve of Todd. Todd didn’t give a damn what you thought, he thought it was his way, or get eaten by zombies. Which, may be true, but he still didn’t need to act like that.

“Son, what are you doing carryin’ a little ol’ 9 millimeter?” Todd scolded me.

“It’s..It’s the only gun I could find.”

“Your gonna get ate by carryin’ that around, here’s a M16.” Todd threw the gun at me.

“Uhmm..Thanks.”

I never used a gun this big. I sucked at shooting already, so carrying this thing around I thought I was gonna end up busting a cap in a someone.

“So what do ya’ll think we should do?” Todd demanded.

In a harmony, we all replied “I don’t know.”

“Good, I wouldn’t of taken an answer from any of you maggots anyways. Were going to head north. We need supplies, and I know exactly where to get them. Are you comin’ lil’ kid?”

“Ye-Yes.” I had no other family. They were all taken out by this virus. I wasn’t close to them at all though. So I just ran, and ran, and ran. I never looked back. As sad as that might be, I had no other choice, I didn’t want to be devoured by these flesh eating bastards.

 Monday, September 17th.

I have no clue why I’m not infected. Maybe I’m immune. Maybe it just hasn’t settled in my system. Maybe my body was just fighting it off. I don’t know, and honestly, as long as I’m still living, I don’t care.

“Son, is that a diary?” Todd said with a crackly voice.

“No..It’s a..Journal..” I answered afraidly.

“If your travelin’ with us, you better get rid of that damned thing.”

“Uhm, but I need to –” Todd smacked the book out of my hand. I jumped, that man hit like a rhino on steroids. That man scared the hell out of me. This is one person you do not mess with. He can have you killed with a sticky note if he wanted to for christs sake.

“Son, what are you doing?”

“Just..Just thinkin’.”

“Were leaving at night.”

“Wait, I thought zombies were more active during the night.”

“Son, do you want to know why you get chased constantly?”

“Why?”

“‘Cause you go doing the day you idiot!”

“But, in all the comi –”

“SON, YOU READ COMIC BOOKS? WHAT IN BLAZES ARE YOU?”

“A 15 year old loner.”

“Ahem, I can tell.”

“Toddy!” Sky shouted.

“Woman, I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU TO NOT CALL ME THAT.”

“Yeah, well your still my little Toddy.”

“I’m 20 years older than you.”

“Age is but a number sweety.”

“Get back in the kitchen and go finish making us food for the trip.” Todd sighed.

“She’s an interesting character.” I snickered.

“Look son, I’m done with you, get some sleep, were leaving in 5 hours.”
