Dragon’s milk has made the daughters of Kothar very brave. As is easily seen on their first ride high in the sky on the dragon Garthlac.

Dragon Flight

Such a Wonder

Fleeting sights of unusual things

Delighting my tortured mind

Warrior dragons souring high

Could I ever ride up there

Through clouds and over mountains

Not alone

I could not, alone

Such a wonder would have to be shared

Lovers riding a great red and black dragon

Wind rushing and tearing at their clothes

Holding tight to each other

Scared as can be, yet thrilled beyond measure

Shared suspense

Sharing the fear

Such a wonder has to be shared

Word had come just a few days go that Vorent’s troop would be back to the lair soon. This excited the daughters of Kothar. That meant that Anash would be there soon to court them.

Monorra had found that all those years of making up stories for her sister to help her sleep at night without nightmares was now a daily chore. There were many children at the lair and they loved her stories. As for Avris, she found that many of the soldiers had seen how improved Anash was after she showed him a lot of her sword abilities and they now came to her for lessons. Each afternoon she went to the training ground and took a space. Anyone that wanted to learn from her only had to show up during this time. More and more showed up each day.

The daughters of Kothar were just finishing their breakfast out on their balcony when a knock came at their door. They both hoped it was Anash and they quickly came to the door. It was only a red lady, “Thy presence has been requested. Please come.”

The sisters learned some time ago not to ask questions of a red lady. If they didn’t tell you right away then they didn’t tell at all. Pestering with questions would get nothing. So they had to guess and speculate with each other as to who called them. Of course they knew it had to be Anash. He loved to be mysterious with any plans that he made. So they wasted no time and followed the red lady.

Even though the girls had also learned that you can’t see who the lady was under the red hood, they still tried to see with no luck. The red lady let them out of the lair and then up a trail around the side of the mountain. The trail led to stairs cut into the rock. Within they followed the red lady wondering where she led them. They had never been this way before. The stairs led into the mountain and made sharp turns back and forth. With the silence of the red lady their speculations got wilder and wilder. Maybe they were being taken to a secret private garden. Or to where dragons laid their eggs. This went on until they walked out upon a great ledge. A red dragon with silver streaks passed in front of them with two men on its back. It went graceful as a cat to the ledge and glided away.

yep..I was right with my last comment. I’m the wrong gender. It is skillfully written, and the flight was a nice touch.
