Marja the witch and the dark man creating fear and misery.

Tears of Migus

previous chapter:  Village

Sleep can be so good. It’s a freedom for some. Far away from everything. He heard someone calling his name. He didn’t want to answer. The sleep was too good. The calling was persistent. This irritated him. Yet he decided to wake up and had trouble doing so. Normally he was quick to awaken. His father had taught him that his life might someday depend on how quickly he could awaken. But something was not right. This sleep was different. Waking was not easy. This disturbed him even more. It made him feel that there was danger. He struggled to awaken and let out a groan. He heard his name being called again. This time he could tell that the caller was very weak and desperate. Slowly he realized they were moving. He slowly opened his eyes, but had trouble focusing. He could tell he was in the back of a cart and they were going through the forest. A bumpy part of the forest. The bumps were actually helping him to wake up. He reached out and grabbed the side of the cart and tried to raise himself up. That made his head spin. He fell back hard. His head hitting the bed of the cart gave him a headache, but it did seem to free him of this sleep. He was wide awake now. He then climbed up on his knees and looked about. He saw Gaebrah sitting on the horse that pulled this small cart. She was looking at him with a very pale face. A deathly pale face. Migus quickly got out of the cart and came up by her side. All of what happened was now playing in his head again. He was surprised that Gaebrah was alive. For a moment this filled him with happiness until he saw her leg. He stopped and felt sickness run through him. Her leg had been cut off at the knee and she was freely bleeding. He could see the blood was dripping on the other side as well. Both legs had been cut off at the knee

Without a word he got her off the horse and placed her in the cart. In the cart he was a bit surprised to find all of his things. He took from his pack some rags for binding and took care of her legs. Both had been cut off, just like all the others that they had found. When he was done he looked with very sad eyes at Gaebrah. She had been quiet while he worked. He was so afraid that she would still die.
